Baghdad University Council resolutions – 12th session (2017)
Twelfth session
1. Direct the Promotion Committees to in all university formations to send scientific promotion transactions to an internal appraiser in Iraq and to other two foreign appraisers.
2. Emphasize the closure of the scientific promotion transaction within a maximum period of one year in the case that there is a new research and re-opening of the transaction after a new research has been submitted, while keeping evaluations of other research under controls.
3. Encourage joint supervision with state departments and institutions in accordance with specialty and controls to maintain contact and to carry out researches that serve the community and the labor market.
4. Direct the Associate Rector for scientific affairs directed that courses for postgraduate students (doctoral) should be no more than two lessons implemented during the courses period.
5. The council was briefed on the ratings of colleges within the national university rankings and the president of the council thanked the committees in all university formation for the good reception of the commissions in charge of assessment and he directed the colleges that have poor rankings to examine the causes and address them to develop their academic level.
6. Direct all members of the council to provide the department of media and public relations with the following:
-Updated CVS of teaching staff on CD-ROM to be published on the university website.
-Scientific journals of their formations in PDF format with the journal interface to update the university’s repository.
7. Direct the department of studies, planning and follow-up to update professors and staff database each academic semester.
8. Emphasize the professional and the cultural aspect of conferences and symposia and to host professors in such events and delivering speeches by them according to the program.
9. Direct the deaneries in all university formations to offer initiatives and projects that serve the university and the ministry to study them in the council to be submitted it to the ministry.
10. Directing the deans of the faculties of the medicine and engineering to submit a study on the admission rate of students in their faculties from the first and second phases to be submitted to the university council.
11. Direct the deans of all university formations to experiment with the use of the English language in postgraduate studies by conducting a seminar in English.
12. Direct the deans of all university formations to inform the department of media and public relations of any foreign, official, parliamentary or ministerial delegation that visit their formations several days before so that the protocol unit would prepare a special reception.
13. Direct all instructors of the university to register in (Google Scholar) and emphasize the need to place the link of University of Baghdad Website in all teaching staff profiles.
The council considered the notes of the Committee on Central Scientific Promotion, No.( 69, 169) on 26/10/2016 and (73 of 22) on 26/2/2017 on the recommendations of the Committee for Central Scientific Promotions adopted at its 19th meetings held on 17/5/2016 and VI, held on 27/12/2016 and the seventh meeting in 3/1/2017, on the promotion of the teaching staff mentioned below to professorship for completion of their scientific promotion requirements in terms of authenticity in their research and duration of university service:

1. Approve the promotion of the teaching staff mentioned above to professorship for completion of their scientific promotion requirements in terms of authenticity in their research and duration of university service, with no financial implications prior to the issuance of the university order.
2. Congratulate those listed above for receiving the title of professorship.
3. Send a letter of thanks and appreciation to the professors in the sequences (2, 4, 5, 9) mentioned in the table above for presenting (at least five research marked with authenticity).
4. Direct the Central Scientific Promotion Committee to submit their names for publication and highlight their promotions in university publications.
The council considered the notes of the Scientific Affairs Department, No. (273, 277 and 284) on 22, 23 and 26/2/2017, on the resolution of university council during its sixth meetings, held on 19/12/2016 and VII, held on 2/1/2017 and the ninth meeting held on 6/2/2017, the notes of the Department of Scientific Affairs (P/344/335, 359, 9, 8) on 14/3/2017 its annexed table on the recommendation of the Scientific Affairs Department with respect to scientific journals and criteria approved by the book ( 5166) in 3/11/2016 for approval by the university council and after discussion the council reached at the following resolution:
Resolution
1. Approve the adoption of the following scientific journals:
-Advances magazine in Environmental Biology ISSN: 1998-1960.
-Journal of US-China Public Administration.
-Academic Journal of Legal Research.
